Sculpture
My sculptures are created by drawing a three-dimensional armature in garden wire. I then weave and mould three ’skins’ in and around the form using printed papers and occasionally other materials.
The creatures are not painted, they are completed with a final 'skin' of carefully sourced and prepared colour taken from magazines or hand made papers and occasionally subtle text if required.
Any moist areas, such as eyes and noses, are then varnished.
The technique is very labour intensive and depending on size and colour availability, each sculpture takes from four to six weeks to complete.
I create both free standing creatures and wall mounts, depending on the subject matter and requirements.
